Area Agency on Aging 3 intends to seek a direct service waiver from the Ohio Department of Aging regarding Title III-D Older Americans Act funds for calendar year 2022 with the intent to continue furnishing Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Services to persons 60 and older within Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Mercer, Putnam, and Van Wert counties. 

 

The award for 2022 has yet to be released, however 2021’s award was $25,739 for the seven-county region.  The Area Agency on Aging 3 has been providing these services since approximately 1987.  Funds received are based on the state share of the above regional population, aged 60 and older, to provide evidence-based programming that supports healthy lifestyles and promotes healthy behaviors. 

 

Title III-D funding alone is not enough to support this work and the agency intends to continue to supplement funds with other agency received federal dollars to support work within the region.  Additionally, $3,681 of State and Community Services funding will be utilized towards the provision of service as requested in the waiver. 

 

The Area Agency on Aging 3 currently provides training to both lay leaders and community members on 6 evidence-based programs which are delivered to all counties in the region.
